For most, Chrome is a slang word for Chromium that is one of the 92 naturally occurring metal elements. It is a kind of metal but not that useful as a solid, pure substance. As when you hear that something is made of solid chrome, it is not really made of it, it is somehow a thin layer or plating of chrome on the object such that the bulk of its object is sometimes, copper, aluminum, steel, brass or plastic.
